Synopsis
A married couple appear to have all the trappings of wealth, success and happiness, butboth Amelia and Michael have secrets from each other. Through a series of twists the film asks: what is it to be faithful to another person? And what does it mean to be true to yourself?Short facts:- Amelia and Michael is the directorial debut of Daniel Cormack, who made the filmwithout any connections in the film production industry whilst working in a cinema boxoffice and receiving hardship funds from the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.- Daniel Cormack raised the funding for Amelia and Michael independently by writingletters to well-known people in the film industry. He secured donations from JudiDench, Alan Rickman, Terry Jones (of Monty Python fame), film and theatre directorNicholas Hytner, former 20th Century Fox studio head Sandy Lieberson, BarbaraBroccoli (producer of the Bond films), the David Lean Foundation and Soho House.- Daniel Cormack cast Anthony Head in the film by sending a persuasively worded letterto his agent and the actor agreed to appear in the film after reading the screenplay.- Daniel cast the rest of the roles through an open casting call which received over 2,000responses.- Amelia and Michael won the Tiscali Short Film Award for Best Debut, but Daniel wasnot able to attend the ceremony to collect the award as he was working the evening shiftat the box office of the Electric Cinema.
